A SKY HIGH GROUNDBREAKING
Groundbreakings are commonplace in growing desert landscape, but when the largest master-planned community in the valley has a major groundbreaking, shovels in dirt are only part of the show. A big announcement means a big event, and we were honored to be the ones who planned it.
Picture a beautiful mountain backdrop, Joshua trees scattered across the undeveloped desert plane and a perfect blue sky morning. Then toss inskydivers, confetti cannons, a DJ and two massive banners announcing the opening of Summerlin’s newest village, The Cliffs. It was quite the affair, complete with specially selected music, including the Star Wars theme song which accompanied four performance skydivers (former Navy Seals, no less) as they gracefully arched and soared through the air with trails of red smoke billowing behind them. One skydiver carried a massive banner emblazoned with The Cliffs logo for added effect. Their descent across the Cliffs airspace was punctuated upon landing with the reveal of a second massive banner, dropped from a construction crane simultaneous with a surprise explosion from a pair of confetti cannons.
The oohs and aahs of the attendees confirmed a seal of approval, with press coverage appearing on nearly every major TV station as well as in print, on the internet and across social media all day, night and into the next day.
FFW has managed Summerlin public relations since the community’s inception 25 years ago, a feat of which we are proud and a responsibility we take seriously. There have been many groundbreakings and grand openings: a hospital, library, cultural center, schools, parks and a Downtown, to name just a few. Along the way, there have been light shows, fireworks, a water balloon fight, a giant crane turned swan with ballerinas throwing out rose petals, and of course, shovels in dirt. Now we can add skydivers to the list!
So what will we do next?
