ALS of Nevada is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which provides much-needed services for Nevada’s ALS patients, their caregivers and families. Funds are raised and stay in Nevada. We offer free clinics in both Las Vegas and Reno, case management services, programs, education, other resources and loaner equipment. ALS, sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, resulting in muscle weakness and atrophy. Difficult to diagnose, there is no known cure and the average life span of an ALS patient after diagnosis is 2 to 5 years. Since the progression of the disease varies greatly and since our patients do not have time on their side, ALS of Nevada focuses on making life as normal as possible for both patients and caregivers. www.alsofnevada.org; 702-777-0500.
