From the Center of Downtown Summerlin
FFW has enjoyed the privilege of representing Summerlin for nearly 25 years. Today, along with others, we are excited to be part of one of the most transformational developments in the valley- Downtown Summerlin, a 400-acre urban core in the heart of Summerlin. It sits just east of the 215 beltway between West Charleston and West Sahara, and phase one opens October 9. Phase one includes a highly-anticipated 106-acre regional retail, entertainment and shopping venue; a nine-story office tower with 360-degree mountain and valley views and some special executive perks for tenants who get in early. (Can you say fore!?)
Additional openings slated for next year include a gated 124-unit luxury apartment home complex that will include attached garages, private rooftop decks, poolside cabanas and an on-call masseuse. In the true style of Summerlin, it will be an upscale live, work, play space for adults and children.
So… the elephant in the room for some: what’s with the name change? This area has been considered Downtown Summerlin through the early planning stages of the 22,500 acre master-planned community. The Howard Hughes Corporation decided to unite the entire 400-acres collectively as Downtown Summerlin which includes Red Rock Casino & Spa and the 106-acre regional retail center which will include 1.6 million square feet of retail, dining and office. This development is not a mall. It’s also not a complex with residences above retail stores. Once complete, it will be a hub of activity with a mix of urban residential, businesses and entertainment venues. It will include an open-air, pedestrian friendly shopping and dining center, not to be confused with other outdoor shopping centers in the valley. The Howard Hughes Corporation has announced major national retailers with the development, separating it from other shopping and dining venues, and they aren’t done. Over the next few months, additional tenants will be announced. And remember, this is just phase one. More big surprises are still in store!
