Construction begins on Henderson’s two newest parks located in Inspirada
A special ground breaking ceremony today marked the beginning of construction on Capriola and Potenza Parks in the master planned community of Inspirada in Henderson.
Joining in the 61-shovel ground breaking event were Henderson Mayor Andy Hafen, City of Henderson Councilwomen Debra March, Senior Director of Public Works, Parks and Recreation Bob Murnane and Shari Ferguson, assistant director of public works, parks and recreation, along with representatives of Inspirada Builders, LLC, who are heading up the development of Capriola and Potenza Parks. The parks are anticipated to be finished by late summer. A third park, Aventura, is anticipated to break ground in 2014.
The use of 61 shovels was a nod to the upcoming 61st birthday of Henderson, Nevada’s second-largest municipality, in 2014.
“This is a great way to begin celebrating our city’s 61st birthday,” said Mayor Hafen. “Inspirada’s new parks will help achieve our vision as America’s premier community.”
Councilwoman Debra March, whose district includes the master planned Inspirada community, acknowledged the many Inspirada residents who participated in the event.
“Over the past five years, I have gotten to know many residents of Inspirada and I share their interest and enthusiasm as construction begins on new parks and we look forward to new neighborhoods from KB Home, Toll Brothers, Pardee Homes and Beazer Homes in the coming months,” said Councilwoman March.
KB Home, Toll Brothers, Pardee Homes and Beazer Homes comprise Inspirada Builders, LLC, with KB Home holding a majority interest.
“The new parks are part of Inspirada’s planned 85-acre system of parks, trails and open spaces – places to play and explore just outside your front door,” said Robert McGibney, president of KB Home’s Las Vegas division. “In addition to Capriola and Potenza Parks, we’ll also start construction on Aventura Park, and see new, diverse product lines debut from KB Home, Toll Brothers and Pardee Homes.”
Capriola and Potenza Parks will be built and paid for by Inspirada Builders, LLC at an estimated cost of $10.5 million and then donated to the City of Henderson, which will operate and maintain the parks.
The ground breaking of Capriola and Potenza Parks is part of a larger development plan at Inspirada in 2014, which includes new monumental and community signage, the addition of a community overlook off of Bicentennial Avenue, as well as new neighborhoods from KB Home, Toll Brothers and Pardee Homes, with KB and Pardee slated to each open two new neighborhoods in June. Beazer Homes anticipates opening new neighborhoods in late 2014 or early 2015.
Inspirada Builders plan to offer homes for every lifestyle, with floor plans that range in size from just over 1,500 square feet to more than 4,500 square feet, preliminary priced from the $190s to the $500s.
Capriola Park is an approximately 13-acre community park that will feature lighted multi-use fields, a one-acre dog park, basketball courts, tennis courts, splash pad, children’s play area and multi-generational play area.
Potenza Park is an approximately 5.29 acre neighborhood park that will include picnic areas, a skate plaza, two basketball courts, children’s play area and ramadas.
Inspirada is currently home to more than 2,500 residents. For more information, visit www.inspirada.com or follow the community on Facebook at www.facebook.com/InspiradaNV.
