Dress for Success Southern Nevada Elects Bart Patterson New Chairman of the Board
LAS VEGAS – Dress for Success Southern Nevada board of directors has elected Bart Patterson, president of Nevada State College, as its next chairman.
“We are so excited to welcome Bart as our chairman as he carries on the work that our founder Paige Candee and I began six years ago,” said Shelli Ryan, former chairman and a founding board member for Dress for Success Southern Nevada. “Bart exudes an unyielding passion and commitment to bettering our community and to creating opportunities for disadvantaged women in our valley. His strategic, big-picture approach makes him the perfect candidate for this role. We are confident his leadership will be instrumental to the organization’s growth and future success.”
A seasoned professional with over a decade of managerial experience in the education sector, Patterson has served as president of Nevada State College since April 2012. He previously worked as chief counsel and vice chancellor of administrative and legal affairs for the Nevada System of Higher Education. Patterson earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Utah State University, as well as a juris doctorate from Duke University School of Law.
“I am honored to be named chairman of the board for Dress for Success Southern Nevada,” said Patterson. “I have always admired Dress for Success’ efforts and look forward to building on the organization’s strong foundation. I hope to foster new partnerships with other non-profits and governmental organizations, as well as identify new methods to increase the services essential to women in our community seeking to build a career and become economically self-sufficient.”
As chairman of the board, Patterson will serve a three-year term. In this capacity, Patterson will provide governance leadership and fundraising support, oversee the annual budget, facilitate board meetings and act as an ambassador for Dress for Success Southern Nevada. Patterson will also develop and cultivate relationships with donors, partners and other stakeholders to drive awareness and financial support for the organization and its programs.
Ryan, president of Ad Hoc Communication Resources, will remain on the executive board of the organization.
