Summerlin: Our Favorite Topic for 25 Years and Counting
Birthdays and anniversaries give you a chance to reflect on what has been and what is to come. This year, the master-planned community Summerlin, one of FFW’s largest and longest-term clients, celebrates its 25th birthday. For two and one-half decades, the desert land that was once on the outskirts of Las Vegas has developed into a beautiful community, fully engrained in what makes up southern Nevada.
It’s our job to talk about Summerlin, so that you will, too. FFW partners, Melissa Warren and Linda Faiss, have been talking about Summerlin since the beginning, celebrating groundbreakings and grand openings dating back to 1990. Two years ago, I joined FFW and began working with the Summerlin PR machine, talking about the new homes, the water park, the annual art festival, the 4th of July parade and, of course, Downtown Summerlin. As the housing market continues on a distinct upswing, it’s been an exciting time. What is still to come is even more exciting, and I’m glad I have the privilege to talk about it, and of course, to always get that sneak peek. You won’t believe what’s coming next!
There are still 5,400 acres left to develop in Summerlin, so that means there are many new Summerlin topics to keep our messages fresh and exciting. The community’s crowning achievement to date, Downtown Summerlin, will ultimately grow into a 400-acre high-density live, work, play neighborhood in the heart of the community and is now a regional retail center, with 106 acres of fashion, dining and entertainment. Open just last year, Downtown Summerlin will encompass condos, townhomes, apartments and office space, creating a walkable urban core in the center of the suburbs.
And if that’s not enough, there are new villages, new neighborhoods, new model homes and new parks on the immediate horizon for Summerlin. We, at FFW, look forward to talking about Summerlin for many more years to come!
