Give Back to Las Vegas for Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday got started back in 2012, and has since inspired millions across the globe to support their local communities. This year Giving Tuesday is happening on December 3, the Tuesday after Black Friday. So if you’re looking for a way to help the Las Vegas community, consider donating to the following nonprofits:
Communities In Schools leads the nation in dropout prevention by connecting students and their families to educational and community-based resources. They serve over 67,000 students in Nevada, 93 percent of which qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children diagnosed with critical illnesses. With the collective strength of over 500 volunteers, the Southern Nevada chapter of Make-A-Wish has granted over 2,000 wishes of local children since it was founded in 1996.
Nevada Ballet Theatre has been performing classical and contemporary works for almost 50 years. They also run Future Dance, which provides free in-school dance instruction and scholarship opportunities for over 20,000 students in need.
Nevada Community Foundation helps donors in Southern Nevada discover their philanthropic dreams. Last year, NCF and its donors provided 16,535 grants to the community, with causes ranging from fighting youth homelessness to helping Las Vegas Veterans.
The Rape Crisis Center supports tens of thousands of Nevadans affected by sexual violence. Services include transportation assistance, counseling, clean sets of clothing for survivors, and more.
