HONOLULU COOKIE COMPANY’S FIRST MAINLAND STORE IS OPEN!
Aloha, Las Vegas! Honolulu’s favorite pineapple-shaped shortbread cookies are flying across the ocean to Las Vegas as the Hawaii-based company opens its very first mainland store in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian |The Palazzo. “We couldn’t have asked for a more ideal location to begin the initial expansion of our company outside Hawaii,” said Randy Yeager, President of Honolulu Cookie Company. “We are excited to share our premium cookies’ hand-made excellence and unique tropical flavors with new customers!”
On May 17, the new Palazzo store opened, unveiling new products developed for the Vegas market, including cookies shaped like diamonds, hearts, spades, and clubs along with its classic, trademark pineapples. With special deck of cards packaging and a freshly designed interior, using an organic design approach with natural materials and colors, the store captures both the spirit of Vegas and the upscale elegance of The Venetian |The Palazzo. A second Las Vegas store is also scheduled to open in the near future.
“Las Vegas is similar to Hawaii, in that it is a tourist destination and provides an excellent opportunity for retail,” said VP of Marketing Ginger Waters. “Las Vegas is also a second home and vacation spot for many Hawaii residents, making it an ideal location to test the brand to see how it performs outside of the Islands,” Waters added.
Made from the original 1998 recipe developed by founders Keith and Janet Sung, the cookies’ unique flavors include Kona Coffee, Lilikoi, Pineapple, Mango, Coconut, Macadamia Nut, and more. The buttery rich shortbread cookies strike the perfect balance with a crispy, yet delicate texture and the right amount of sweetness. Among the 16 flavors, some are hand-dipped in gourmet dark, milk and white chocolate, while others have fruit pieces or Kona Coffee beans pressed into their centers. These individually wrapped treats are baked fresh in Honolulu every morning at 5 a.m. and then shipped to Las Vegas. In the future, Yeager said, bakery operations may expand to Vegas in order to meet the anticipated demand for more cookies.
