Making Memories at Annual Summerlin Patriotic Parade
It is hard to establish summertime traditions in Las Vegas, other than lots of swimming. But my family has established one that does not involve a drive to the beach/mountains/Disneyland. Ours is the annual Summerlin Patriotic Parade.
We attended our first in 2004, when my daughter Peyton was only eight months old and her sister, Marnae, just two. And, we’ve tried to make it as often as possible in the decade since. The photo albums document our daughters from babies to pre-teens (gasp), in patriotic attire, each July 4th and often those pictures were taken along the tree-, and flag-lined Summerlin parade route.
Thinking of going this year? Do it. And, look for us. My girls will be somewhere along the parade route taking pictures on their iPhones and posting them to Instagram. And I will be remembering when, a decade ago in the same spot, they both fit in one stroller.
