Martin & Macarthur Open Flagship Location At Grand Canal Shoppes The Venetian |The Palazzo Las Vegas
Martin & MacArthur, the premier maker of fine Koa furniture and personal accessories in Hawaii, will open its first flagship store outside of Hawaii at Grand Canal Shoppes The Venetian | The Palazzo in Las Vegas on Wednesday, April 1 at 10 a.m.
Grand opening festivities include a traditional untying of the Hawaiian flower lei and blessing of the new store. Sheldeen Haleamau will be leading the blessing. Haleamau and her husband Gary, who will be singing traditional Hawaiian songs for the opening, are recipients of the 2015 Nevada Heritage Award in recognition of preserving sand perpetuating traditional and contemporary Hawaiian arts and culture in the state of Nevada. The festivities will take place in front of the store located near the Grand Canal turnaround.
The flagship store marks a key new direction for the venerable Hawaiian-based company, founded over 50 years ago. The store will feature beautiful works made by the finest craftsmen in Hawaii. Many of these works are never before seen outside of Hawaii and represent innovative home and personal accessories made with Koa — the rich, elegant wood that is only grown in Hawaii.
The store will feature the widest selection in the world of solid wood watches made with Koa and other exotic Hawaiian hardwoods. It will also feature innovative personal accessories such as Koa-Tungsten rings, Koa sunglasses, Koa covers for iPhone and iPad, Koa-leather handbags and wallets for both women and men, and fine Koa jewelry made with actual Koa gemstones.
The Grand Canal Shoppes boutique will boast Koa surfboards with a herringbone pattern of exotic Hawaiian hardwoods made by master shaper Lon Klein. Exotic carved wood sculptures by renowned Maui craftsman Derek Bencomo will also be available. Customers can enjoy a wide assortment of Koa jewelry boxes and lathe-turned wood bowls all made in Hawaii along with exotic Hawaiian feather lei and outrigger canoes modeled after the very ones used by early Hawaiians.
“We are delighted to bring the finest assortment of authentic Hawaiian offerings to guests at Grand Canal Shoppes,” said Michael Tam, president and CEO of Martin & MacArthur. “We look forward to a successful opening and partnership.”
