Cox 2014 Diversity Scholarship Recipients

I like the month of May because it brings good things with it – Mother’s Day, the start of graduation season and the end of the school year — yes, we are looking forward to May 29th in my house!

The next few weeks include two annual events for longtime FFW clients – the presentation of college scholarships by Cox Communications and Pardee Homes.

On May 6, Cox Las Vegas will award $52,500 in college scholarships – 15 scholarships at $3,500 each, to local high school seniors.  Ten of the scholarships are being presented through diversity partnerships with local organizations ranging from 100 Black Men to Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada and The Center.  The other five are Cox Because We Care scholarships awarded to children of Cox Las Vegas employees.

On May 20, Pardee Homes will present its Pardee Homes Community Building Scholarships to local high school seniors.  Each $1,500 scholarship is renewable annually, enabling recipients to receive as much as $6,000 during their college years if they maintain eligibility.  Since Pardee began its scholarship with the Public Education Foundation, the company has awarded more than $350,000 in scholarships to more than 80 Clark County students.

I know May will be 31 very busy days and I’m grateful to be a part of the celebrations!
