The Sneak Peek of Holiday Fashion and Gift Guide
We are half way through October which means that fall is officially here! Fall is my absolute favorite season. Being from the northeast, there is nothing better than the cooling down of Las Vegas’s hot summer and finally being able to pull those fall clothes out of your closet. Boots, scarves and sweaters – check! But this time of year also means holidays, which in my PR world means Holiday Gift Guides.
One of our clients here at FFW is General Growth Properties (GGP). GGP owns and operates many shopping centers across the country. One of the projects I work on for them is helping to file and sort images from numerous retailers for gifts guides throughout the year such as Spring/Summer, Back To School and Fall. These photos are used on mall websites, in social media, for PR and many other promotional opportunities at GGP retail centers across the country.
Right now, we are compiling images for our fourth gift guide, the Holiday Gift Guide. This is my favorite guide because I get to sort through images for the upcoming holiday season. Yes, that’s right, I get to see all the lovely clothing, accessories, shoes, toys and home gifts that will be featured as “What to Shop For” come this November.
This is both a bad and good thing. Good because I can get an idea on what I will be buying my family (and maybe a present for me) for Christmas. Bad because I always find way too many things that I want to gift them.
For example: For the men in my life, I can never go wrong with Aldo and Express Men. Then of course there are gifts for kids – my adorable nieces and nephews – from The Disney Store and Macy’s that immediately make me say “aww” and “how friggen cute”.
This is just one aspect of my job is that I love. I love how diverse working in PR can be. I love that working on this particular project lets me have a sneak peak at what’s up ahead in fashion and gift giving. I love sorting through the various men’s, women’s and kid’s images and picking out my favorites from all the different retailers. Never in a million years would I have thought that this would be an aspect of my job in PR, but I am sure glad it is.
And one more thing…from sorting the images for this holiday season, I already have quite the wish list going!
