Springs Preserve to host Halloween, Day of the Dead events for families

October is here, which means that families around Las Vegas are busy planning their next autumn adventure. Luckily the Springs Preserve has you covered! Whether you’re in the mood for the frightful delights of Halloween or the joyful tradition of Día de Muertos, here are a few can’t-miss dates to add to your calendar.

Haunted Harvest

When: Oct. 11-13, 18-20, 25-27 from 5-9 p.m.
Price: $8 for non-members; $7 for Individual, Family and Bronze members; Free for Silver State Pass, Gold and Platinum donor members.

The Springs Preserve is bringing back its annual Haunted Harvest, with spooks and family-friendly surprises hidden throughout its “Bootanical” Garden. Kids will love trick-or-treating at the candy stations and making Halloween crafts. And the whole family will enjoy challenging each other at the carnival games, zig-zagging through the hay maze, or grabbing a bite to eat at the food vendors. The event will also have a petting zoo, live entertainment, and other interactive activities.

Día de Muertos

When: Nov. 1-3 from 4-9 p.m.
Price: Advance – $10 adult, $6 child; Day of – $12 adult, $8 child; Individual, Family and Bronze members – $10 adult, $6 child; Silver State Pass, Gold and Platinum members – Free; Free admission for children 2 and younger.

This colorful celebration blends rich Hispanic customs with exciting activities such as live theater and dance performances, altars, mariachis, face painting, sugar skull decorating and an art exhibition. Local residents and community groups will also create beautiful altars to honor deceased relatives, and will lighten the mood with fun poems, music, and dance.
